BILS organised “BILS – DGB Project Resource and Support Center Annual Output Users Conference 2016” on December 26, 2016 at Hotel St. Martin in Chittagong. Chittagong City Corporation Mayor A J M Nasir Uddin was present at the programme as Chief Guest, while BILS Chairman Md. Habibur Rahman Shiraz was in the chair. BILS Executive Council Secretary as well as Jatiya Sramik League Central Joint Secretary Md. Shafar Ali was present as Moderator. BILS Secretary and Divisional President of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal Chittagong A M Nazim Uddin, Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal President Anwar Hossain, TUC District President Tapan Dutta, DIG of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments in Chittagong Abdul Hai Khan, Deputy Director of the Department of Labour in Chittagong Nahidul Islam, Feni University Vice Chancellor Professor Fasiul Alam, BILS Executive Director Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmmed, Labour Leader and BFTUC Joint Secretary Rizwanur Rahman Khan, Chittagong University Law Department Professor Shahin Choudhury, BILS-DGB Project Coordinator Kohinoor Mahmood along with Leaders of different Trade Union Federations delivered their speech in the programme.
The Chief Guest said, “At earlier in our country workers movement and Trade Union leadership played a vital role for the nations’ need with sacrificed and patriotic spirits. He also said that it is responsibility of everyone and they should come forward to ensure fair wage, live and livelihood of workers. He added that workers-owners good relationship is necessary for ensuring economic development and national progress. He urged everyone to play vital role with patriotic consciousness for overall development of workers.
In the seminar speakers urged everyone to work together for establishing workers’ rights. They expressed their hope that BILS-DGB Project continuing activities will play important role to ensure workers rights in Chittagong.
BILS-Labour Resource and Support Center is basically the continuing process of building a complete Information Service Center by which enthusiastic everyone such as national and local Trade Union Leaders, students, teachers, news reporters and researchers will be benefited. The seminar was held aimed at assessing the short time activities of BILS-LRSC and making the activities more dynamic for coming days.
